Unions: I support the right to organize and collectively bargain for good wages, good benefits and safe working conditions. Many of the worker protections that are now written into law for everybody were gained by the effort of our brothers and sisters in labor unions.
Right To Work (for less): "Right to work" laws, though cleverly named, are misleading for what they do. Nobody is forced to join a union but "right to work" laws strip union ability to collect dues and weaken collective bargaining power. Wages in RTW states are less than they are in non RTW states. In many cases, laws around worker protections and minimum wages are weaker too. Prevailing wage and project labor agreements are important tools in the worker toolbox. I will protect them.
Right To Strike: What good is a union if the union does not have the threat of work stoppage at their disposal. The Railway Labor Act, has been used to force contracts on our railworkers and airline workers without union approval. This is a Federal law, above my paygrade as a State legislator but I will be an advocate from the Statehouse.
